Boxers House, London.

This speculative study proposes the adaptation of a 1930's warehouse into a training facility for young Boxers.

The existing building sits to the north of a former wholesale market in the financial center of the City. The scheme proposes a residential training center for the youth of London's East End communities; these Boroughs are within walking distance of the site. Historically, philanthropists and religious societies offered boxing centers as a means to keep young men from crime. Traditionally, these institutions prepared many of Britains sporting legends.

In recognition of the two disparate worlds that it bridges, the Boxers House accommodates the public in a variety of spectator areas. Bars and cafes provide revenue for the operation and enable the building to remain active during the day and night; a tradition common to former City Markets but now sadly rare.

In addition to describing the architectural conditions of the space, these drawings examine the habitation of the building throughout its daily routine.
