Spaces n the City

These drawings document a short walk through the City of London on a Sunday morning.

The city is a feast for the senses and each drawing attempts to visually articulate the discoveries made at each turn and threshold. The studies also seek to capture aspects of the journey that are non-visual, such as the sounds, smells and textures that one encounters.

Cities such as London are in constant change and the walk reveals evidence of habitation dating back to the Roman occupation. The drawings are created from a variety of media and assembled in a way that simulates the rich historical layering of the City.

Interior Architects seek to redesign space in a manner which is responsive to the Social, Political and Economic Context of their site. I remain fascinated in the ways that we as designers can reveal such conditions through drawing
