The
original property was built in 1914. The Bay Spring area of
West Barrington comprises of many such cottages that were built
as summer retreats for State House personnel. A later addition
to the house doubled the size of the property but functioned
autonomously from the original structure.
The
task therefore was to create a series of spaces that would connect
both halves of the house. The movement of the sun throughout
the day inspired us to consider how this exceptional resource
might play a crucial role in connecting spaces at different
levels.
